STANDARDS, SECURITY AND CERTIFICATION FOCUS
The ULE Alliance is constantly seeking for cooperation opportunities. In August the ULE Alliance joined the AllSeen Alliance as a community member. The AllSeen Alliance manages the AllJoin open source project. The Linux Foundation is hosting AllJoin as one of its collaborative projects.
The ULE Alliance will contribute its HAN- FUN specification and the Common Implementation to AllSeen. In addition, the plan is to implement two projects: to port the AllJoin software over ULE and to develop a gateway to enable existing ULE devices to join the AllJoin networks and vice versa โ to enable AllJoin devices to join ULE networks.
Stay tuned for further updates in the future editions of DECT Today...
Membership expansion
In its quest to establish ULE technology as a leading infrastructure for Home Automation, Security, Climate Control, Personal Well-being and more applications, the ULE Alliance is constantly seeking to add new members to the ULE community. Currently the ULE Alliance has over 70 members and this number is growing steadily.
We invite companies, such as chipset makers, device manufacturers, middleware and cloud software developers, service providers and more to join the ULE community by joining the alliance.
New look of the ULE brochure
At IFA exhibition the ULE Alliance introduced two new brochures: One focusing on the ULE Alliance and another focusing on the ULE Technology. The new look of the brochures is intended to provide up to date information, reflecting recent developments and achievements.
HAN-FUN common implementation โ open source
The ULE Application layer (HAN-FUN) common implementation, which was developed in cooperation with Bithium is now available on the ULE Alliance website as an open source resource and is open for all to access, download and use the software for development, following the signing of the license agreement. Two license agreements โ GPL V2 and Apache are available. Parties interested in downloading the software can select the license agreement that is best suited for their needs.
ULE in events and press:
We had a successful exhibition at IFA in Berlin during September, where the ULE Alliance hosted a large booth. Many visitors stopped by to receive more information about ULE and to discuss its potential.
Eight members of the alliance participated at the booth: Binatone, Crow, Dialog, DSP Group, Gigaset, Panasonic and VTech all exhibited their ULE products.
Some of the companies that visited the booth have already joined the ULE Alliance as members, and more are expected to do so in the near future.
The current version of HAN-FUN
implements over 25 device profiles. Additional
new profiles are now in evaluation, and are
likely to soon be added to the HAN-FUN
specification. www.ulealliance.org/
Articles featuring new ULE based products, and about ULE Technology are frequently appearing in the press in Europe and USA. See page 24 for a selection of stories.
