Panasonic targets carriers with new SIP cordless phone
Panasonic has launched a new SIP cordless phone system aimed at the SME market. To be launched through European carriers and distribution channels, the KX-TGP600 is the successor to the KX-TGP500, and was debuted at Mobile World Congress, Barcelona, in March 2015.
The customisable system offers the user a range of additional accessories. The KX-TGP600 can accommodate up to eight handsets per DECT receiver, both wireless desk phones (KX-TPA65) and handheld versions (KX-TPA60) can be integrated with ruggedised handsets for businesses with a mix of office and warehousing.
A unique advantage of the system is that the KX-TPA65 is a desktop phone but with DECT interface. This allows users to place it on a desk with no cabling needed. This reduces installation time and cost and, with its ability to use eight outside SIP lines simultaneously, customer service becomes more efficient, and the cost and effort of installing and managing separate outside lines is removed completely.
All programmable features can be accessed from a web maintenance console, although the system’s provisioning function enables remote configuration settings and handset management. Users can choose from two maintenance methods: local management using the base unit directly, or management through the service provider.
Carlos Osuna, Product Marketing Manager at Panasonic, said, "The KX-TGP600 represents a complete mobility solution. Very well priced and built to Panasonic’s impeccable quality standards, it’s a great business tool that users can rely on to drive up the clarity of their communications and drive down the costs they incur.
"Because it’s a high quality, stable product that’s very easy to install, we see it as perfect for distribution through carriers and as a particularly
attractive proposition for the SOHO Market and those businesses looking for increased mobility, even with a small workforce."
New Plantronics headsets meet latest security standards
Plantronics, a pioneer in wearable technology, has announced its DECT wireless office headset products, CS500 and Savi 700 Series. The company said they were the first in the headset market to be certified to meet the DECT Forum's latest security standards. The CS500 and Savi 700 Series headsets are available for purchase now.
Plantronics said that, by incorporating the latest recommendations on enhanced security from the DECT Forum, the company continues to lead headset technology in both functionality and security.
Announced in January 2013, the new standards provide guidelines and a compliance certification process to manufacturers for improvements to security in eight areas, including authentication, encryption, call setup, call progress and tear down. To obtain DECT Forum Security Certification, a product must comply with all recommendations and be submitted for independent verification at an approved test lab.
Plantronics said its CS family is setting a new wireless standard for desk phone communication with the CS500 Series. The system features up to 120 metres of wireless range with a streamlined design and improved performance all with the same reliability for hands-free productivity that has made the CS family a Plantronics best-seller for nearly a decade.
The Savi 700 Series is the most intelligent wireless headset system on the market, according to Plantronics. Offering multi-device connectivity and a diverse range of wearing options, users can enjoy up to 120 metres wireless range while
managing desk phone, PC and mobile phone calls.
"The launch of the Certification Program allows DECT vendors to have their equipment security certified against the latest standard, allowing them to assure their customers that their communications are secure," Andreas Zipp, DECT Forum Chairman, said. "We’re encouraged to see full members like Plantronics embracing the new standards and working with us to certify their products."
"We’re committed to providing our customers with the most robust solutions on the market today, both from a feature and a security perspective," said Bill Loewenthal, vice president, enterprise solutions, Plantronics. "Through our close partnership with the DECT Forum, we have once again proven why the CS500 and Savi Series are among the most popular headsets for businesses."
For PC-based office and remote workers, the Savi 400 Series is the only portable DECT headset solution for unified communications, offering a range of wearing options, excellent audio quality and up to 100 metres of wireless range.
